1. BBC News This is a clear favourite of everyone here as the top news app for the iPhone. The first page shows stories in the three sections Top Stories, World, UK. You can change the topics to your most preferred. You can then swipe to see the other stores in that category. It is very similar to the news website which again has great usability. You can also watch a live stream. The app is also social in that you can share on facebook, twitter and via e-mail.
2.Red LaserThis app scans bar codes and QR code and has been downloaded more than 8 million times. A truly useful app that allows you to check prices, find nearby stores and check for food allergens. It great for helping you decide whether the impulse purchase you are about to go for is a steal or daylight robbery. 3. Sky Sports News![]() This app is a definite favourite in the sport obsessed office, offering you text news and video reports for free. The home screen can be customised to prioritise your favourite sports with dedicated sections for football, cricket, rugby league, rugby union, golf, tennis, F1 and boxing. 4. Run keeperBeing fitness fanatics at White Spider Media we all love run keeper, a great way to track duration, distance and speed and then see your route at the end. I find it much more usable than the Nike app, which completely crashes my iPhone. 3 of us actually run into work, Dan running the furthest at 10 miles. Thankfully there are showers in the building! ![]() 5. ShazamThis app is great for identifying non “mainstream” songs and telling you everything you want to know about the song. It also does a YouTube search to see if there are any related videos you could see. It’s free too! 6. Travel Deluxe & London BikeWith these two apps you’ll be fine to travel anywhere in London. The bike app is designed for use with the Barclays cycle hire scheme. It tells you when your nearest dock is and how many bikes or spaces are free. ![]() 7. InstagramWhether you like photography or not this app is great for giving your photos a professional twist and allows you to share them with your friends. 8. Spurs Ap (Emma’s fav)The app we’d all been waiting for, for just 59p you can get the latest news from the lane, with articles and high quality video highlights. What on earth did we do before this app was created? ![]() 9. All Saints (Hugh’s fav)Every time you sync your iPhone the app is updated with your new content. It locates your nearest store and you can shop the latest styles on the go – pretty dangerous really! 10. Ski Club GBThis live data app so it’s best if you’re connected to 3G or wireless but once you downloaded the details it can be used on the slower Edge network while you enjoy the slopes! The app includes info on snow depths, piste conditions, weather conditions and live webcams. A definitely must for all skiers. |
